Welcome to Our New Gorsley Sub-Editor, Sally Davidson!!

Hi, I’m Sally. I’m looking forward to taking over as Gorsley sub-editor from Laura, who is off to pastures new. You may recognise me from the Community Shop where I’ve been volunteering since moving to the village in 2024. I’m loving getting fully involved in Gorsley life! If you have any special news, events, or ideas about what you would like to see in the Gorsley section of the magazine, please get in touch using the details above.

Gorsley Goes Christmas Crackers!

Following the hugely popular pantomime held at the Gorsley Village Hall in 2024, the same team is currently rehearsing a Christmas Variety Special to be held at the hall on Friday 4th December (early evening), Saturday 5th December (early evening) and Sunday 6th December (matinee).

There’ll be something for everyone, of all ages. This time we’ll have an assortment of music, comedy sketches, singing, dancing, jokes, and obligatory outlandish costumes. We are pleased to announce that our endearing panto horse will be making a welcome return, as well as many members of the original panto cast.

Santa will also be with us in his grotto. Children will receive a free soft drink and a present. All profits will go to a nominated charity and to Gorsley Village Hall. We hope you’ll come along and enjoy an uplifting start to Christmastime. There’ll be a cash bar and a raffle.

Please call or text Jo on 07910 745730 for more information and to book. Tickets: £10 per adult. £5 per child. Family tickets (up to four children) for £30.

Gorsley Baptist Church

Everyone is welcome to our Sunday morning service at 10.30am. Separate crèche, children, and youth activities take place at the same time, so there is something appropriate for the whole family. If you want to see if our service is to your liking, all services are also live-recorded and available on YouTube. We would love to get to know you; however, YouTube cannot go as far as serving you coffee and conversation, which takes place after the service. It would be great to see you.

Christ Church Gorsley – “We will remember them”

As November unfolds, we extend a very warm welcome to our regular Sunday morning services at 10:30am. Our special Remembrance Service is on the 8th of November, a time when we honour all those who gave their lives to protect our freedom: men from Gorsley and those from across the Allied countries. We also thank all those who have served us.

On the 29th of November, we will hold a Cafe Church at 10:30 am with coffee and croissants. Please note that our Carol Service will be held on Saturday, the 19th of December at 4 pm. It is always a lovely, traditional time of carols and readings followed by mulled wine and mince pies! For further details of services, find us on the website achurchnearyou

The club brings together men from a wide range of backgrounds, including teachers, engineers, farmers, lawyers, and business owners. The emphasis is on friendship, conversation, and enjoying shared interests in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
